Kenny's Last Class - EVER!

It's been a busy week for Kenny with the new job, and tonight is his final class for his Master's program! After 5 years of school, we are so excited to have this finally over!

We got married during our second semester of our freshman year of college (we dropped out and moved to Mesa, and both started working full time). After a few years, we knew he needed to go back to school at some point, but since we already had 2 kids, he also needed to work full time so UOP was the only way we knew how to make it work. My brother was an enrollment counselor, so he helped us get started. Kenny started school May of 2003 and has basically been going non-stop (year-round) ever since.

When Kenny started he only had 9 credit hours completed, so he had to do ALL of his bachelors degree and while he was in school they changed the requirements for the CPA program, requiring extra credit hours beyond your bachelors (essentially requiring you to get your master's degree) before taking the CPA exam. He graduated with his bachelor's last April, then started his Master's in May.

His graduation ceremony won't be until November (one of the crappy parts of UOP) so we will be having a party then, but we are just so proud of him and grateful for all his hard work and dedication for our family! He has worked so hard for this accomplishment! Next up is preparing for the CPA exam.

CONGRATULATIONS KENNY!! WE LOVE YOU!!!

Are You Serious?

So, we get a knock on the door this morning from Hawes Floral. It's not our anniversary or birthday... Who could be sending us flowers? The card is made out to Kenny Crockett and Family, so Kenny opens the card. It is from Kenny's new job, Schmidt Westergard, welcoming him to the company! Maybe it's just me... but how nice is that!! He's even more excited to get to work tomorrow!

Kenny's New Job!!!

Well after a tough few weeks of unemployment Kenny accepted a great offer from Schmidt Westergard and Company. It is a larger local CPA firm located in Downtown Mesa (Near University and Center). He had several interviews with one of the partners and finally received an offer today. It seems to have a lot of good people in the organization and the right balance between work and personal life. He is very excited and also anxious to go back to work.

We would like to thank everyone for your prayers and support during these stressful weeks. This past year has been very challenging for us and we know it was through faith and the support of our family and friends we have been able to get through it. We're excited for better things to come!

Need an Accountant?

Thanks to "corporate downsizing" (meaning Kenny's firm lost several large clients and he was the lowest man on the totem-pole), Kenny was laid off work and we are now "actively seeking immediate employment." We have sent out several resumes but it seems the best jobs usually find you, not the other way around, so if anyone is aware of any good senior accounting positions available, please let us know!

Happy 4th of July!

The Fourth of July is one of my favorite holidays! I grew up in Utah so we always went to the parades, had picnics and barbecues in the canyon, went swimming and ended the night with the Stadium of Fire Fireworks. It's a little different here in Arizona, I guess with the heat there are less organized activities, but we try to make the most of it.
This year we went swimming at Brimhall pool. Kenny and the older boys had a lot of fun jumping off the diving boards. I stayed with the little boys while Mckay spent most of the time going down the kiddie frog slide and Brayden crawled around in the shallow end. Surprisingly it wasn't too crowded. Afterward, we came home and barbecued burgers and hot dogs, with pasta salad, potato salad, baked beans, chips, etc. Yum! Kenny and I watched the Music Man on TV while Brayden took a nap and the other boys watched cartoons. Later we headed over to MCC to finish the night with fireworks.
It was a great day!
