I officially have a calling in our new ward... Cub Committee Chair. As far as I understand, I'm responsible for tracking the boys progress and advancement as well as purchasing and providing the badges and awards for pack meeting. Basically I'm the cub scout secretary. That I can do. I struggle with scouts, so maybe this will help me understand it more. With four boys, I know I will be spending lots of time with the scouts. Maybe I will learn to love it.

End of School - Start of Summer!
It's the end of another school year and the start of another summer. The kids are excited to be done with homework, but will miss their friends over the summer. I'm glad to be able to sleep-in and rest, but not ready to keep 4 boys entertained all summer.
We have a pool pass and summer movie tickets this year, so we've already been swimming and to the movies. I know we'll be spending lots of time in both places trying to beat the heat. Here's to another summer of adventures!

Memorial Day and Welcome Home Party!
Monday we celebrated Memorial Day with a late lunch and swim party at my Mom's house. We also welcomed my Dad home from Mozambique, Africa. He does humanitarian work with a group called Care For Life and spends several weeks or months there each summer. We always miss him while he's gone and are so happy for his safe return. (No pictures of the homecoming, he's usually pretty overwhelmed, and always goes through a little culture shock, so we try to back off and give him some space.)
Tyler & Ryan Honor Roll Awards!

Ryan's Bobcat Award
Ryan started going to scouts last month after turning 8. After watching Tyler in scouts he's been very excited for his turn! He earned his Bobcat Award at his first Pack Meeting. They had us paint his face, with each color representing different characteristics of a cub scout. He was a little embarrassed, but so excited to earn his award! His den also provided a skit. Congrats Ryan!
Father/Son Camping Trip
Kenny took the boys on their own Father/Son Camp Out a few weekends ago. (We missed our new ward's while we were gone to California, and it is something we ALL look forward to!) They went to the Pinal Mountains just outside of Globe, near where Kenny grew up. I was told they had a BLAST! They told me they roasted marshmallows, played Indiana Jones with the giant boulder near their campsite, made burritos for breakfast and did lots of hiking and climbing. I had a wonderful girls night with Mindy and her girls, then cleaned the house without anybody home to mess it all up! It was GREAT!

Ryan's Baptism!
Ryan was baptized this morning. He looked so handsome in his suit! He was very serious and almost seemed uncomfortable having all the attention on him. He did such a great job listening and we are so proud of him! Right after he came out of the water he asked, "Can I do it again?" (So Ryan!) I know he felt the spirit because he said he felt all warm inside.
After the baptism, we met all our family at Texas Roadhouse (the family favorite) for lunch. We took up 6 big tables, but it was lots of fun to have everyone there to support him! He even got to sit on the saddle! He was so excited to get his own scriptures and hymn book with his name printed on them. At church, they will have him sit on the stand and introduce him to the ward during the announcments. (Hopefully all will go well! No 'Ryan' moments!)
We are so proud of Ryan and the choices he has made to be baptized. We know if he continues to make good choices he will have the Holy Ghost to guide him through out his life. We hope he can remember this day and all the family and friends there to support him and love him. He is so special and we are so happy to have him in our family! Love you, Ryan!
