Tyler's part of the Club!

So Tyler has been squinting for a while now, and complaining that he can't see, and asking to wear our glasses. I wasn't sure if he really had trouble seeing, or he just really wanted glasses. He loves dressing up and they make a great accessory for his costumes.

It started a couple years ago when he got a new suit and while he was trying it on, I mentioned he looked like his dad. He beamed and said he just needed some glasses. Kenny had just got a new pair because his other pair broke and lost a lens in a car accident he was in, but we still had them. I removed the other lens and let him wear them. He was so proud to be like Kenny, so I let him keep them. That was just the beginning!

He constantly asked to wear our glasses, especially after Kenny got contacts. I even mentioned the squinting to his teacher last year, and she said she would keep an eye on it, but I never heard anything, so I figured he was fine, just dramatic.

Until a few weeks ago he came home and told me his teacher moved him up closer so he could see better. The next day he went to the nurse for an eye test, which he failed. He came home with an envelope and a paper for the Eye Dr to fill out and return to the nurse. So I made the appointment and he was SO excited!

On the way there, I asked him if he was nervous and he said, "No! I finally get to be part of the club!" Apparently, there are about 10 kids in his class with glasses, not to mention most of our family. He says kids don't tease people about glasses, and "It's just cool to see better, Mom." I guess teasing has evolved.

He was so excited, I had to take a couple pictures with my cell phone! Sure enough, his vision was 20/200 in one eye and 20/70 in the other. So he picked out some dark rectangular wire frames like his Dad's. So cute! He couldn't wait! Luckily, they were done in less than a week and he had them in time for school picture day. Now he's officially part of the club!

Happy 4th Birthday Mckay!

Today was Mckay's 4th Birthday! He wanted to take cupcakes to his friends in preschool. It was also orange day so I iced the cupcakes with orange frosting and sprinkles. Mckay thought that was great! He also got to wear the Birthday Boy pin to school.

Later, we had some family and friends over for cake and ice cream. Lisa and Gary had already planned a dinner ride, but stopped by and gave Mckay a quick ride on the motorcycle first. He was thrilled! (Ryan also wanted a ride WITH the helmets to talk. So Ryan!) His favorite gift has been a set of Thomas the Tank Engine Blocks. Then the kids had cupcakes (not big cake people around here) and some ice cream cones. We had a nice night chatting while the kids played.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MCKAY!

Squeaky Clean!

My friend Valynn got me one of the best hook-ups! Her brother-in-law works for Cobblestone Auto Spa and they are opening a new one on Signal Butte and the US 60. They needed to train the new employees so he asked Valynn to bring some of her friends in for a free car wash and full detail before they open. We dropped our cars off for the day and they cleaned EVERYTHING! They even shampooed the carpets and upholstery. My van needed it so badly, it was full of kid funk! I'm way too cheap to pay for a good detail, but I need to clean my van more often. Now it is beautiful, almost like new! It was so awsome! So if you need a good car wash, head over to Cobblestone!

Mckay's First Day of Pre-School

Today was Mckay's first day of pre-school with Miss Kara! All of my boys have gone to pre-school with Miss Kara. (I totally remember taking Ryan to pre-school at Miss Kara's the week Mckay was born! Boy how time flies!) Mckay was so excited it was finally his turn. He insited on wearing his little Blues Clues backpack, even though his folder and papers wouldn't fit in it. He will be going with his best friend Kelby, which makes a nice carpool for me and Mindy. When I ask him what he did at school he always says "Lots of stuff." He made this picture with his handprints that says

Here are my hands with 10 fingers in all.
My first mark in school to hang on the wall.
As the years go by, I'll remember and say
My hads and I had a great first day.

Brayden's First Birthday!

Today is Brayden's First Birthday! (I can't believe my baby is already 1 years old! I'm so sad, I wish he would just stop growing and stay my little baby forever.) It was nice to have the everybody home for Labor Day, so we were able to have a easy day and he had a good nap! We only got him a few toys, because he doesn't really play them much, he likes playing with his brothers. We invited our family over for cupcakes and ice cream. I made a small cake just for Brayden, and he LOVED it! I've never seen a kid dive into the cake like he was in a pie eating contest. So funny! HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRAYDEN!

Lisa and Gary's Wedding

My sister, Lisa, married a really nice guy named Gary Abbott on Saturday. On Friday night, all the girls went out to dinner at Texas Roadhouse, one of our family favorites. They even had Lisa get on the saddle (unfortunatly I didn't get my camera out in time for those pics).

The wedding and reception was held in my parents backyard, which was really pretty but kind of muggy with all the humidity. It rained almost every day that week and sprinkled a little earlier in the day, but thank goodness it didn't rain that night! All of our siblings were able to be there, we were just missing a few spouses and kids. It was really beautiful and we are so happy for them. You can just see how happy they are together! Congratulations Lisa and Gary!

I didn't get many pictures during the reception because we were helping out in the kitchen, but we did catch a few of Mckay and Emma dancing. So Cute!
